Natural Stone Flooring 0

Many people love the look of a natural stone floor but is it right for your home?

All-natural stone needs to be sealed to protect them from absorbing moisture and help it repel stains. It only needs to be done once a year and it is not as difficult as you may have thought. Natural stone can be cold. It is great for under-floor radiant heating systems. Not only will it warm your toes right up but it will warm the room as well. Natural stone is known for being durable, so it is great for active families. A bonus is that it can add value to your home.

Natural Marble

Natural Marble 0

Marble is a soft stone. This is great underfoot, but it can lead to discoloration. If you seal your marble every year it can limit the risk of staining. For some homeowners this may be to much upkeep, but others don’t mind the maintenance for the luxurious look of the stone. Using a dark marble can conceal any discoloration that may accrue. An alternative to natural marble is marble-look porcelain tile. These tough stain-resistant tiles will mimic the look of marble. The porcelain tile will not require the annual maintenance that a marble floor will. Porcelain will also be kinder on your pocketbook.

Warmly yours Countertop Heaters

Warmly yours Countertop Heaters 0

You don’t need to lack comfort for beauty. Granite and marble countertops can be warmed up to approximately 20-25 degrees above room temperature. The heaters adhere directly to the underside of the countertop. They can be added to the standard countertop or for a peninsulas, overhands and islands.  Countertop heater plugs into a standard 120V household outlet and is less than .025” thick, making the hard wood unnoticeable. This has a low operating cost, of about 10 cents per day. It is low voltage (12-24 V) so it is safe for the home.

Travertine 0

Is Travertine a good flooring choice for my home?

Travertine is a great stone because it can take a beating. It will not show significant damage from scratches, chip or cracks. Like any natural stone it has some maintenance that is required but if it is kept up with it can last decades. Sounds great right? Just remember that it is a solid-stone so retains cold well. This can be solved with a in floor heating system. Once the tile heats up it is a great conductor of heat and will help warm up the entire room.

Porcelain is a type of ceramic that is made from a finer, denser clay. This clay is fired at a higher temperature that makes the tile tougher than other tiles. Porcelain tiles are more scratch resistant and durable to stains, which means they are great for kitchens and bathrooms. There is no need polishing waxing or sealing with porcelain tiles. This makes Porcelain easy to clean and maintain. Perfect for homeowner who don’t want to spend all their time cleaning.Porcelain comes in many different styles, so you will be sure to find one that matches your home.
